We are often asked if the deer is from Nara Park, but this deer is actually one of the wild deer living around our home. My mother takes part in wildlife management at the request of the local government, helping to control the deer population as part of maintaining the natural ecosystem. In our daily life, we do our best not to let the lives of wild animals go to waste— we prepare the meat for consumption and also create dog treats, approaching this work with a sense of respect and gratitude. In recent years, however, the number of wasabi plants has begun to decline, likely due to the increasingly intense summer heat.
